Fly fishing and tarpon fishing on the coast
of Georgia has many square miles of dark water marsh and shallow
flats ridden with sand bars that harbor bait fish pods literally
by the billions. Here stalking in these waters, the master of
all game fish ,"The Mighty Tarpon".
From late May into October, he awaits the
sturdy ones among us who don't mind spending possibly hours on
the rod. With sharks, jack crevel, lady fish, and spanish mackerel,
some times boiling in the chum slick, the fly fisherman can have
the opportunity of a life time.
Tarpon averages in size between 40 lbs
to 120 lbs. with some fish exceeding 180 lbs. |
